TYPE DESIGN
For this project, students were challenged to create a unique, well-designed typeface of their choice. I chose to make a serif display typeface inspired by a steampunk, Victorian aesthetic. I named it "Fleetwood" in reference to the source of inspiration for this assignment, the name of a company in graphic novel I plan to make. The sides of each letter feature gear cogs, the M and W are embellished with a diamond shape reminiscent of a gauge needle, and an alternative F shows off decorative swashes inspired by wrought iron. The advertisements were drawn in Procreate and designed to bring out the industrial, steampunk design of the letters.
